And when hearts are fragile, strength emerges from the most unlikely places.

Torn From The Headlines - March 17, 2010

50 Years Ago - March 16, 1960
Porsche officials said their factory racing team would not participate in the 12 Hours of Sebring endurance race on March 26 because the FIA had granted race organizers “a special exemption for the exclusive use of one certain brand of gasoline.” Ferrari had earlier withdrawn its factory team for the same reason.

No Respect For Edwards
I am a NASCAR fan and like all NASCAR fans I have my favorite driver. I am proud to say Tony Stewart is my favorite driver.
Respect is the name of the game and my respect is given to all NASCAR drivers who race throughout the year, but I have lost all respect for Carl Edwards and his blatant attempt to harm another driver during the Atlanta race March 7. I no longer have any respect for him.
I understand there are retaliations, but not at the speed of 190 miles per hour. Someone could have been seriously injured or worse. This includes not only drivers, but the fans.
A black-flag penalty in my opinion is not enough. Penalties should be given and hopefully NASCAR sees the disturbing circumstances of Carl’s actions as well as the consequences that could have arose from his attempt to harm another driver.
I hold tickets to both the Brickyard and Bristol. Now I am leery of even going to these races because of the actions put forth by one driver. What do I do?
We have awesome tickets and if this were to occur again at one of these races I am put in harm’s way. Should I fear for the lives of the other drivers or fear for my own life and those around me as a spectator?
